We made an impromptu trip to the zoo on Sunday. Everyone (Grammy, Uncle Dave and Aunt Becca) all happened to be free at the last minute so we were off for a day of fun.
I had looked at every store imaginable to try and find a hat for Lucas, but had no luck. We ended up being able to get one at the zoo, but it was pretty sunny prior to us finding one and we had to resort to spritzing him with some sunscreen so his scalp wouldn’t fry. Poor little greaser. Then the we had a very rare occurrence of diaper leakage. The kid was soaked up the front and back of his cotton shorts. Being the mom of the year, I had left our extra change of clothes in the car…which was, of course, at the other end of the zoo. So we looked like quite neglectful parents, with our greasy boy clad only in a diaper and t-shirt. I am sure Kailey was feeling a little disgusted with the twin comments when being compared to such a little urchin.
We had the most perfect weather and there were practically no crowds in the zoo on a Sunday morning (thank God for church services, right?
). Little Ms. Independent got to have her fill of wandering around the place, something that is typically very hard to let her do since she refuses to hold our hands or even be corralled in the correct direction.

Lucas was pretty happy just to hitch a ride most of the time.

At the end of the day, we were all tuckered out. (Try to ignore the missing shorts on Lucas and just focus on the super sweet hand holding we happened to capture).

The one of Lucas in the babyhawk could be straight off of BH’s website. Love it. And the holding hands brought a little tear to my eye ~ the one thing I had totally not thought about in having a second was how much fun it would be to see my children fall in love with one another. Glad you had a great day.
